Mabo Spin is a fast-paced arcade puzzle game in which you go around a maze wrapped around a sphere collecting stars, avoiding enemies and traps and helping fellow Mibos find their way out of the maze.
The game has 5 levels, 6 unique types of challenges and 75 total challenges. The maze is randomly generated each time you play making it feel unique every time, even when you play the same challenge twice. On top of that, the variation in enemies and traps forces you to change the way you approach each challenge. A level with a lot of enemies and powerups is played differently than the same level with no powerup and a lot of traps. The game requires both skill, for the fast-paced gameplay levels with lots of enemies, as well as precise movement for the more tricky levels full of traps. Add on top of that a time limit and you have a challenging game in your hands.
The first level of the game feels more like a tutorial where each challenge introduces a new gameplay element. This makes it easy to get used to controls, enemies and traps. The true challenge starts with the second level that has more complicated challenges that are still easy to complete but it gets harder from this point on. While the challenges in the first level can take under a minute to complete the challenges in the second part of the game can take a few minutes. This makes it easy to pick up the game and play a quick challenge if you have only a minute to play or try a harder challenges if you have more time to kill.
New levels are unlocked by completing all the challenges in the previous level. Challenges can be skipped, you do not have to play them in order, but if you want to unlock the next level you have to complete all the challenges in the current level.
Completing all the challenges takes around 5 hours but because the levels are randomly generated the game has a lot of replayability. Game progress feels faster in the beginning but because the number of challenges grows exponentially with each level it will be harder to unlock the last levels of the game.
